Initiative 1: The Green Power Campaign

The map below shows the sad state of U.S. college and university commitments to carbon neutrality. While 684 schools have signed the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment far fewer have taken the first step towards carbon neutrality by only purchasing electricity from green energy producers.

The goal of Initiative 1 is to have 80% of American college and university power needs met through sustainable sources by 2020.

We will achieve this goal by targeting colleges and universities on a state by state basis beginning in the Northeast and moving south and west as we build momentum.

Our focus will be on building grassroots momentum through student government action.
